Poem: The pond we used to visit

And now I’m on the other side of the world

as you sit on the bench

we used to share, sitting close

reflected lights rippling as

a swan glides through

black sky water.

We said time flies

like a confused butterfly

the past and future

a tangle of lovers’ limbs

I am with you and

without you.

We grip hands,

keeping warmth between our palms

as we wade through

seas of fallen leaves

kicking up a wave

buoyant together.
